Will Kim Cattrall Be Back For Season 3 ‘Sex And The City’?
Will Kim Cattrall return for Season 3 of the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That…? She played the iconic role of Samantha Jones in the OG HBO series for all six seasons. Cattrall then went on to reprise her part for both SATC movies but did not return for the MAX show. So, what is her fate for Season 3? Keep reading for more details.
Kim Cattrall Coming Back To And Just Like That?
When the masterminds behind Sex and the City announced that there would be a reboot, only three of the main girls returned. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis were on board as they maintained they would have filmed a third film. As for Kim Cattrall who played the iconic Samantha Jones, she allegedly had demands the studio would not meet. Therefore, the third film never happened. Yet, a reboot of the hit series came to be but Kim was noticeably absent.
She claims that she was never asked to come back to the show and learned about And Just Like… That via social media:
“I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did — on social media.”
Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw, shared this sentiment about Kim not being asked back:
“She made it clear that that wasn’t something she wanted to pursue, and it no longer felt comfortable for us, and so it didn’t occur to us. That’s not ‘slamming’ her, it’s just learning. You’ve got to listen to somebody, and if they’re publicly talking about something and it doesn’t suggest it’s some place they want to be, or a person they want to play, or an environment in which they want to be, you get to an age where you’re like, ‘Well, we hear that.'”
However, much to the fans’ surprise and delight, Kim did make a cameo in Season 2 when Carrie was leaving her beloved apartment. On the show, Samantha Jones had relocated to London and Carrie had let her go as her publicist. She had stopped speaking to Carrie but did get in touch when Mr. Big passed away. When Carrie sold her apartment, Samantha was supposed to fly in but could not make it so she phoned in. She gave a speech and that was that.

Now, rumors are circulating that Kim Cattrall will be back for Season 3. A fan posted that Kim was returning on social media:

Moving On With Her Life
Kim Cattrall has stayed busy despite not being on the Sex and the City reboot. She played the older version of Hilary Duff’s character, Sophie on Hulu’s now-defunct How I Met Your Father. It lasted two seasons. At the same time, And Just Like That… has gotten mixed reviews. Some fans have simply loved watching the women back on their screens while others feel the time has come and gone. All of the seasons of Sex and the City live in infamy on MAX as does the character of Samatha Jones. It is unclear if Kim will ever come back to the reboot down the line.
