Jeopardy! has had a few great returning champions this season. However, while names like Isaac Hirsch and Drew Basile were running up long winning streaks, other smart players ended up losing tough battles and going home without a single win. However, that is what the Second Chance Tournament is all about.

There are a few players this season that some fans have already tabbed as favorites, including Micah Rahn-Tiemeyer.

Jeopardy! Fans Want Micah Rahn-Tiemeyer In Second Chance Tournament

On Thursday’s Jeopardy! episode, Jay Fisher, a government relations manager from Lisle, Illinois, defended his two-day run as champ with winnings of $16,199. One of his opponents was Micah Rahn-Tiemeyer, a mental health crisis therapist from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Jay had only won $16,199 in his first two games, whereas older champions had won over $20,000 in single games multiple times. It made some fans feel he was ripe for a loss. It almost happened against Rahn-Tiemeyer. However, in Final Jeopardy!, Rahn-Tiemeyer missed a question he said that he should have known from the start.

The clue read, “Married since 1977, the year of this band’s 1st album, 2 members referenced another album with their 2023 “Remain In Love” tour.” The answer was “Who are Talking Heads?” This really killed Micah since he is a huge fan of the band.

He said his brain latched onto the wrong thing. “I knew the albums, I knew Tina and Chris were still married. I know how to get Tina’s bass tone. My brain latched onto the wrong thing, I was trying to think of an album with ‘in love’ in the title.” Micah was in the lead and would have won the game if he had gotten it right.

However, fans were all on his side, even in the loss (via Reddit).

  • “Micah’s 22 correct response would possibly get a Second Chance invite but with so many incorrect responses, this might a factor into the producers’ consideration if he will get the invitation or not?”
  • “Agree Micah would be a good Second Chance choice. He was superb and definitely had multi-day champ potential.”

Micah personally thanked the fans for the kind words and said, “There’s been a lot of excellent runners up this season though. Second chance is going to be a really strong competition and there may be too many people crowding me out of the field.”

Micah Rahn-Tiemeyer On Making Ken Jennings Laugh

One thing that Micah had going for him was making Ken Jennings laugh. Rahn-Tiemeyer took pleasure in making Jennings laugh with his “AA-WESOME” joke.

“I was happy to make Ken chuckle with the AA-wesome joke, but it’s less impressive when you realize I had the opportunity to say, ‘Ken, let’s go Nude… for a thousand dollars,’” he said.
