Is Mama June Shannon Really Blind Or Is It Selective?
For years, Mama June has had people doing everything for her and always had her men and family drive her everywhere. That is because she is legally blind due to untreated cataracts that developed as a child. Though she has had some work done on them, she struggles immensely hence why she often uses talk-to-text. Or, her grammar is off in her posts because she cannot see. It is also another reason why fans tend to see the top of June’s head or her face up close in her livestreams. She is struggling to read comments.
However, in a recent episode of Family Crisis, she was served by a police officer. All of a sudden, June had no problem reading the documents and she could see perfectly fine.

June opened those papers and immediately read through them, knew exactly what was going on, and did not even need Justin Stroud’s help. This led fans to wonder what was going so they started a Reddit thread to address the questionable situation. The OP started with this:
- Why is June so blind she needs a caretaker until court papers show up at her front door? She didn’t seem to have any trouble reading them.
This seemed to be very accurate so what did fellow Mama June fans have to say after reading this observation?
- Bc it was staged just like most of the show is (except Anna’s death of course)
- I mean I knew from the “cops” white sneakers that was a dead give away before he even spoke.
- A little like selective hearing isn’t it? Selective seeing. 😂
All Staged By Production
At this point, followers believe that Family Crisis is largely staged despite Mama June saying that it is all real life. There have been many clues that it is fake such as Pumpkin’s filming home not being the home she and her family really reside in. Plus, Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson did not always live with Pumpkin as the show claimed. Finally, June was seen on the phone only viewers spotted a blank screen so she was talking to no one. Now, she suddenly can see these court documents despite being blind.
