It is a sad day for people of all generations as it has been announced that Dr. Ruth Westheimer has passed away. The infamous sex therapist who never held back on anything died at the age of 96 on Friday, July 12th. According to People, it was her co-author and publicist, Pierre Lehu, who broke the news about her passing:
“She was restful when she passed away. Her son and daughter were with her and holding her hand at that moment. It was as peacefully as she could possibly go. She was 96. It’s amazing, there was stuff still going on in her life [she has a book coming out this fall with Allison Gilbert] and someone wants to make a biopic about her.”
Additionally, it seems that she died at her home in New York City. She was always shocked that she became famous, as she shared while celebrating turning 95. More so, she was grateful for her children and grandchildren. It seemed she never imagined this to be her life. She was born in Germany but was an “orphan of the Holocaust.” Though it was not easy, she worked hard, got an education, and then, in 1980, she received an amazing opportunity.
After hearing her speak, the offer came in for her to have her own radio show. Ruth could not turn it down and she soon became the sex education queen. More so, she knew that she had to help people out by being funny and not so serious. This made her relatable and easy to talk to. After all that she went through and all she has achieved, Dr. Ruth had this to say:
“With such a difficult beginning like me, having been an orphan at the age of 10 years old — no parents, no brothers and sisters — all I feel is gratefulness.”
