‘The View’ Whoopi Goldberg MIA On Thursday, What Happened?
Whoopi Goldberg was not on The View on Thursday, and fans wondered what had happened to the host. However, she was absent for a good reason, and it wasn’t a good one. Here is why Whoopi missed the episode and when she might return.
Wy Did Whoopi Goldberg Miss The View This Week?
Whoopi Goldberg was absent from The View on Thursday, and many fans wondered what happened to her. Sadly, she missed her appearance because of a serious illness. Whoopi tested positive for COVID-19 (via TV Line).
While some fans might have missed it, Joy Behar revealed why Whoopi was not on the show. “You might have noticed Whoopi’s not here,” Joy said. “Whoopi has tested positive for COVID. It’s going around still! You have to be careful.”
This is also not Whoopi’s first time to contract COVID-19. She also missed episodes with COVID-19 in November 2022 and September 2023. She also missed time in February 2023, but that was due to a “bad cold.” There is no telling how long she will miss, but she is likely to remain at home until she tests negative again.
While Whoopi was not there, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro were all accounted for. They welcomed Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania, and The Boys star Antony Starr as special guests. Whoopi was in a pre-taped moment for Starr’s interview.
Whoopi Goldberg’s Past COVID-19 Battles
Whoopi Goldberg, 68, has battled COVID-19 several times before. In September 2023, she said that time was the third time she contracted the coronavirus epidemic. That makes it sound like she had one incident that no one knew about, or her “cold” in February 2023 was COVID-19 as well.
“In spite of everything you’ve heard,” she said at that time, “I am not at Burning Man, I am not still in Italy, I’m not doing stuff, I am not trying to change the outcome of the election, I just, I have COVID. I just have COVID.” Joy said that Whoopi was lucky and was just under the weather. She also said that she was lucky because if she wasn’t vaccinated, she could be dead by now.
According to reports, COVID-19 cases are rising in New York, and new variants are causing more hospitalizations. Part of the explanation for the rise in cases is summertime social gatherings and hot temperatures that keep people indoors in cramped conditions.
As long as there are no complications, Whoopi should be able to make it back to The View sometime next week.
