Brandon Beemer Talks Emotional Return To ‘Days Of Our Lives’
Soap star Brandon Beemer is returning to Days of Our Lives later this year and opened up about how much that means to him. Plus, he teased a new season of The Bay. Keep reading for the latest on the fan-favorite actor.
Brandon Beemer Talks Emotional Return To Days of Our Lives
Brandon Beemer wasn’t the first actor to play Bo and Hope’s son, Shawn-Douglas Brady, on Days of Our Lives. But to many viewers, he made the role his over the years. The actor first joined the show in 2006 and played the legacy character off-and-on until 2023 when he was let go.
Shawn-Douglas exited Salem to go to rehab after falling off the wagon. But eagle-eyed fans of the show noticed the actor in promotional photos from the show’s 15,000th episode celebration. The celebration coincides with DOOL writing off Doug Williams after actor Bill Hayes’ death earlier this year.
Today, July 11, is the last time viewers will ever see Bill Hayes on screen as the character he played for over 50 years. The Peacock show already filmed the episodes surrounding Doug’s death and several important characters were brought back, including Missy Reeves as Jennifer Horton.
After much fan speculation, it was finally confirmed that Kristian Alfonso did return as Hope for the special episodes. As viewers know, Hope is Doug’s daughter, making him Shawn-Douglas’ grandfather.
Brandon Beemer spoke to Daytime Confidential last month about how much it meant for him to return to honor Bill Hayes.
“I was so flattered to be a part of it. It’s so nice, because when you think about some of the most wonderful people that just always have a smile on their face, I mean, just always so professional, and so like giving and willing to be there, Bill was that guy. There’s not a single complaint that you can have about that guy, except for the fact that he’s just too nice and too sweet and too loving and too kind. It was good to be there and be there for Susan (Seaforth Hayes, Julie Williams)!”
There’s no word if Brandon Beemer is back for good or just for a few episodes later this year.
Catch Up On The Bay
When he’s not playing Shawn-Douglas Brady, soap fans can catch Brandon Beemer on The Bay. Season 9 of the digital series reportedly started filming last month.
The series features several soap vets, including Mary-Beth Evans, Tristan Rogers, and more. In anticipation of the new season, the show’s official Instagram announced Season 8 will be streaming soon.
But if you’re new to The Bay, where can you watch to catch up? According to the Instagram post, Seasons 1-7 are available on Amazon Prime, Tubi, and Popstar. The first six seasons are on Peacock, where Days of Our Lives also calls home after leaving NBC in 2022.
