Wally Kurth Teases ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Paternity Shocker
Days of Our Lives star Wally Kurth teased an upcoming paternity shocker that will rock Salem. Plus, he opens up about working with his ex on General Hospital. Keep reading for all the details.
Wally Kurth Leads Double Life
It is not unusual to see soap actors playing twins on the same show. But very few actors pull double duty as two separate characters on two shows on different networks. Wally Kurth is one. He started playing Justin Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives in 1987. He left the show in 1991 but returned in 2009.
During his break from DOOL, the actor was cast as Ned Quartermaine on the ABC soap General Hospital. He left in 2007 to return to Days but has played both roles regularly since 2013.
Wally Kurth got an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 2024 Daytime Emmys. He lost to his GH co-star, Robert Gossett. But he chatted with Daytime Confidential on the Emmys red carpet last month about how he handles working on two soap operas at the same time.
He talked about filming his fictional daughter Brook Lynn’s wedding on General Hospital recently.
“Yeah, a real wedding! It followed through. It didn’t end in a murder. No one ran from the altar, which has happened to me a couple times. Those big scenes are kind of fun. You get to see a lot of actors that you don’t normally see or work with. It’s always fun. I remember being squeezed on the pew next to my ex-wife (Rena Sofer, Lois Cerullo), and that was always fun. We get along good!”
Wally Kurth and Rena Sofer were married from 1995 until 1997. They share a daughter together.
Spills Days Of Our Lives Paternity Shocker
Wally Kurth revealed that the episodes he submitted for his Emmy reel were from Victor’s death. John Aniston passed away in 2022, leading the soap to kill off the longtime villain.
“You know, everyone experiences loss and when you do it on the show, people relate to that. It maybe helps them grieve. Actors have to share those deep emotions about grief and love.”
Around the same time as Victor’s death, Justin was reeling after finding out that Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) wasn’t his son. His ex, Anjelica, was impregnated after sleeping with Victor.
But according to Wally Kurth, a huge paternity shocker is coming up. Alex really is Justin’s son and the claim that Victor was his real father wasn’t true. That’s not the only twist fans can expect, according to the show’s executive producer.
