The NCIS Season 21 finally didn’t look good for fans of Special Agent Jessica Knight. In the season finale, Jessica gets the opportunity for a new position outside the team. If she takes it, she leaves her team and boyfriend, Jimmy Palmer. However, is Katrina Law leaving NCIS?

Here is what the showrunner had to say about the situation.

Is Katrina Law Leaving NCIS?

If NCIS proved one thing over its 21 seasons, it is that no one is safe. Early on, one of the main stars died in a sudden bullet shot through her head. With Kate’s death, fans realized anyone could die at any time. Anyone could leave the show, as DeNozzo, Ziva, and even Gibbs proved over the years.

For Katrina Law, she hasn’t been around as long as others. Her loss wouldn’t be as bad except that she has become Jimmy Palmer’s new love after his wife died. Breaking Jimmy’s heart by leaving would destroy several fans, which wouldn’t look good for Jessica. However, if she chooses her career over Jimmy, he and the fans must deal with it.

In the finale, Jessica is offered the job to replace Mr. Brian Mooney as Chief REACT Training Officer. She had applied for the role years before; it was her dream job. This will remove her from the team and place her on the other side.

Showrunner Steven D. Binder discussed the possibility of Jessica’s departure and what it would mean for the team.

NCIS Producer Talks Jessica Leaving The Team

Binder explained that the big rule on NCIS is that anything can happen. He said no one knows when someone will leave or shock everyone and stick around. He wants people to watch Season 22 to see what happens with Katrina Law.

“We’ve had people look like they were going away and then it turned out they weren’t, and then we had people who just disappeared, like Gibbs,” Binder said (via Coming Soon). “So I will say this: We do aim to please, and we think the audience will be satisfied with where they see this go.”

However, he also said something worrying. “Sometimes that satisfaction is bittersweet, and sometimes it’s just pure joy. You’ll have to wait to find out which one it’s going to be.” Could she leave Jimmy and the show behind or eventually return?
