’16 & Pregnant’ Whitney Purvis Arrested Again, Why?
Former MTV star Whitney Purvis has gotten herself in trouble with the law once again. She was brought into custody on July 2 and was ordered to serve 48 hours in jail. So, what has Whitney done to land herself behind bars this time? Keep reading to find out.
Whitney Purvis Serving Time Behind Bars For Child Support
Whitney Purvis is known for appearing in the first season of the MTV show 16 & Pregnant, which later became Teen Mom. She starred in the show alongside Farrah Abraham, Amber Portwood, Maci Bookout, and Catelynn Lowell. However, she did not go on to be part of any other seasons of 16 & Pregnant or the Teen Mom spin-offs.
The teen mother has had several run-ins with the law over the years and has faced her fair share of problems. Whitney is estranged from her family and friends. She has dealt with financial struggles, and she also dropped out of high school. Now, it has been revealed that Whitney is behind bars again. This time, it is for failing to pay child support.
Her arrest was ordered by a judge on Tuesday in Floyd County, Georgia. Whitney Purvis was found to be in contempt of court after not paying her court-ordered child support. As mentioned above, she was placed in custody and ordered to serve 48 hours in jail.
Of course, she was also ordered to pay back child support on what she owes. For Whitney, that means she will have to shell out an additional $20 per month on top of the court-ordered $353 per month payment she was supposed to be making.
The former 16 & Pregnant star gave birth to her first son, Weston Jr. on the show. Then, in 2014, she gave birth to her second son, River. She shares both children with her ex-boyfriend Weston Gosa.
MTV Star Lost Custody & Has Been Arrested Several Times
In January 2022, it was confirmed that Weston has legal and physical custody of both boys. They were initially brought into their father’s care in April 2018. Whitney Purvis was granted visitation and has been allowed to see her kids every other weekend. She was also ordered to pay the child support mentioned above.
The couple initially tried to work things out, but they separated shortly after the birth of their second child. They have had an on-again off-again relationship ever since.
Last year, Whitney shared the news of the birth of her third child, Collin Adonis. It is not clear if Weston Gosa also fathers this child or not.
Her failure to pay child support is not the first time Whitney Purvis has had a problem with the law. She was arrested in 2012 after she allegedly shoplifted a pregnancy test from Walmart. Later that same year, she was accused of destroying someone else’s property along with Weston.
The former MTV star has also been arrested for attacking her ex with a broom and making threats towards him in person and via text and phone calls.
