When Dancing With The Stars Season 32 began, many viewers believed Jason Mraz and his partner Daniella Karagach would be frontrunners. As a musician, Jason has a natural rhythm. And on top of that, Daniella won the Mirrorball Trophy during her second season as a pro.

They ultimately finished in second place behind Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy. Making it to the finale is an incredible honor, but Jason Mraz recently revealed he wanted to leave much sooner.

What was going on with the singer?

Jason Mraz Got Homesick While Filming DWTS

Jason Mraz recently appeared on the Dinner’s on Me podcast, hosted by Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson. And of course, his journey on Dancing With The Stars last year came up.

Surprisingly enough, Jason admitted that he begged his friends to help him get off the show.

“I went in thinking, ‘I’ll probably last two or three weeks.’ Well, two or three weeks in, I realized ‘I’m probably going to be here the whole time,'” the “I’m Yours” singer shared. But then he quickly found that possibility terrifying.

“I have to cancel all my plans for the entire rest of the year, and I’m missing my cat terribly,” Jason continued. “And I start telling my friends, ‘Stop voting for me!’ ‘Cause like the only way I can get off this show is if I don’t get enough votes.”

But Jason Mraz’s efforts to get off DWTS didn’t stop there. He even went to the producers and asked them for help.

“I even told the producers, ‘I’m good. I can go home now, thank you so much for the honor,’ and they said, ‘We can’t do anything about you being here,'” Jason continued. “So the only thing I could do is ask friends to vote for someone else.”

Much to the singer’s dismay, he kept making it through to the next round.

The Experience Did Have Positive Moments Too

Despite being homesick, the singer revealed he did actually have a positive experience otherwise. He felt honored to come in second place and wouldn’t mind returning for an all-star season.

“Having made it all the way to the very end, made it to the buzzer, I look back and laugh and think, well, ‘Maybe if I’d actually given a shit,’” Jason laughed. “So, I would do it all over again if I could and I would try really hard. Maybe, they’ll have a Dancing With The Stars All-Star season… I would go back.”
