American Idol: Luke Bryan

American Idol judge and country superstar Luke Bryan recently opened up about his future on the reality singing competition following Katy Perry’s exit from the panel. So, what did he have to say about how things are looking for him?

American Idol: Luke Bryan Brings Country Grit To Judging Panel

In many ways, when it came time to shake up the judging panel when American Idol returned to television screens, Luke Bryan was the perfect choice, alongside Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, to launch this reboot. Some viewers even joke that Luke Bryan joining the panel was the answer to Blake Shelton being a judge on The Voice.

No matter the reasoning, along with Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, Luke Bryan has proven himself to be a great choice to judge the singing competition. Despite being a country megastar, Bryan has an approachability factor that comes through in the way that he coaches, and his unique take on things (including some good ‘ole country grit) has served him well.

Katy Perry Exit Causing Another American Idol Shakeup?

Things seem to be shifting once again when it comes to the American Idol judging landscape. This is especially true following Katy Perry’s exit from the judging panel. The Dark Horse singer was an integral part of what made the relaunch of the singing competition a success.

Of course, Ryan Seacrest was also brought back to host the show that really put him on the map. However, the way Luke Bryan tells it, in the aftermath of Katy Perry’s show exit, the future is looking a little uncertain for him and fellow judge Lionel Richie as well.

American Idol: Luke Bryan Speaks Out On His Show Future

According to Luke Bryan, he recently said that the American Idol bosses are “tightlipped” regarding his and Lionel Richie’s future with the franchise, particularly after Katy Perry rode off into the sunset to pursue other things.

While ABC is still searching for someone to take over for Katy Perry next season, the way things are looking, execs might want to revamp the entire judging lineup, which would include getting rid of both Bryan and Richie.

Speaking to Billboard recently, Luke Bryan said that things have been “interesting.” The country superstar went on to add: “We currently haven’t heard what the story is on who’s coming back, and if Lionel and I are coming back.”
