Mama June Breaks Silence About Filming Anna Cardwell’s Final Days
This season on Mama June: Family Crisis, viewers are watching the family navigate through their toughest trial yet. Anna Cardwell passed away on December 9, 2023, at 29. Onscreen, June Shannon and the rest of her family members are showering Anna with love as they film their final episodes with her.
Cameras did not film Anna’s final breath, which many fans felt incredibly thankful for. Instead, they focused on the love the family had for her.
After this week’s episode aired, Mama June shared some insights about filming that difficult episode.
Mama June & The Family Wanted To Celebrate Christmas With Anna So Badly
It’s been incredibly difficult for Mama June: Family Crisis viewers to watch Anna Cardwell live out her final days onscreen. But even so, Mama June and the rest of the family are doing their best to surround her with love and care.
In the new episode, the family had one last Christmas together. In a new Instagram video, Mama June gave fans more information about the celebration. They knew Anna wouldn’t make it to December 25 — and she didn’t. They tried to celebrate the holiday several weeks earlier but Anna had already begun to “transition.”
“We miss n love @annamarie35 so much n love her so much I wish she was still everyday with us #emotions #mamajune #family #cancersucks #heartbreaking,” Mama June captioned her Instagram post.

Fans Feel For The Family During Their Time Of Mourning
Immediately, fans left their sympathies for June Shannon and her family. They may not know Mama June and her children in real life, but they’ve watched the family grow together on reality television for years. Many felt as if they lost a member of their own family.
