‘Young And The Restless’ Star Conner Floyd Demoted
It looks like The Young and the Restless downgraded one of the show’s stars. Recent credits show that Conner Floyd no longer holds the role of main star on the show. His role is now simply a recurring character, a demotion from his rank on the daytime soap opera.
Here is what you need to know about Conner Floyd on The Young and the Restless.
Conner Floyd Moved To Recurring Star On The Young And The Restless
Conner Floyd’s name was missing from the The Young and the Restless credits when listing the contracted main stars. Instead, he now sees his name under the recurring cast section. A recurring cast member is one who shows up occasionally in episodes but is no longer considered one of the main cast members.
On top of Conner Floyd, it also appears that Brytni Sarpy is no longer listed on the contract cast. This makes sense because she hasn’t appeared on the show for some time. However, Conor (who plays Chance) was just involved in a romantic storyline with Summer Newman (Allison Lanier).
Floyd premiered on The Young and the Restless in 2021 as Phillip Chancellor IV (known as Chance). He was the fourth person to play the role, following John Driscoll (2009-2011), Donny Boaz (2019-2021), and Justin Gaston (2020).
The difference between contracted soap opera stars and recurring characters is pay. Recurring stars consistently appear in less than three weekly episodes and receive a certain sum for each episode. Contract actors make a flat fee over a certain amount of time (often multi-year deals). Actors who don’t meet the quota of episodes can be dropped to cut costs.
However, on the good side, contracted performers are locked into the show, and recurring actors can actively take other jobs.
Why Was Conner Floyd Demoted To Recurring Status?
There were many The Young and the Restless fans who assumed the show had completely let Conner Floyd go. Others thought his name missing from the credits meant he would be recast or fired. At least he remains on for now as a recurring actor.
Floyd has scenes coming up with Summer Newman, and with names like J. Eddie Peck (Cole Howard), Cait Fairbanks (Tessa Porter), and Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbotts) holding regular roles without being contracted cast members shows that he could remain safe.
The Young and the Restless was also rumored to have received cost-cutting measures, which could also influence the change. Also, when he showed back up with Summer, his name popped up as a recurring cast member. He could disappear one day, and that would be all for Chance.

I love him playing Chance! He is a great actor & I wish they would reconsider this decision. I like Chance & Summer together, good chemistry there, and there is so much the writers could do with this character!
