Princess Anne has been in the spotlight more than ever recently. The 73-year-old has taken on more public-facing duties for the Royal Family since the news broke regarding King Charles’ and Princess Kate Middleton’s health broke earlier this year. Both the Princess and the King have been diagnosed with cancer.

After the news regarding Charles’ cancer diagnosis was made public, Princess Anne started to fill in for her older brother at a number of events. Later, Kate Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis as well, and Anne continued to make appearances on behalf of the family.

Royal Family Makes First Appearance In Months

Anne was most recently seen on June 15 at Trooping the Colour in London. This is an annual event that is held to celebrate the monarch’s birthday. Princess Anne rode in the procession on horseback, and it seemed like her steed was giving her a bit of trouble. The horse was seen shaking its head from side to side, attempting to get out of parade formation.

The Trooping the Colour event was the first time in several months that all the members of the Royal Family were present together at a public outing. Initially, it was expected that Kate Middleton would not be present, but she issued an announcement on June 14, revealing that she would attend the event with the rest of the family.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she shared in a statement. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

Kate’s statement was shared alongside a new photo, showing the Princess posing next to a huge tree. While she has not yet shared a timeline on when she will return to her public duties, she revealed that her treatment would continue for at least a few more months.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty,” she concluded the statement. “Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal. Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”
