She has always been inspired by cooking and ingredients, but right now, she is lacking in inspiration. Worse yet, her investor is not impressed with what she has on the menu. Now, she needs to impress them with something special.
Therefore, she decides to hop on a jet plane and head to Italy. There, she hopes for some “epicurean inspiration.” She decides to spend time in the ancient Roman village of Ostia Antica. This is right outside of Rome. There, Danielle meets Giancarlo Donati. He is a local gelatiere. Unbeknownst to Danielle, she and Giancarlo are both going through a sort of crisis. His is of the sweet and frozen kind. Unfortunately, he is feeling a creative lull and needs inspiration.
Soon, Giancarlo becomes Danielle’s guide to everything about this area. Moreover, it all starts with gelato. Firstly, he introduces her to the flavors of gelato. Next, he expands to the flavors of Italy. Soon, showing her interest in these things gets Giancarlo out of his own creative funk. Soon, the pair continue to talk and taste new flavors. Their creativity is sparked.
Most of all, they both enjoy motivating each other, as well as encouraging each other. They both start to realize that they have been dealing with their creative struggles on their own. By opening up to a new world, Danielle has opened up to new ideas. By showing Danielle around this beautiful area, and trying new gelato flavors, Giancarlo is looking at everything from a different perspective.
