Hallmark Doubles Down On ‘Reality TV With Heart’: Here Are Some In Development
Hallmark has delved into unscripted. This is a continuation of their “Reality TV With Heart” last fall. This includes Celebrations With Lacey Chabert, Jonathan Bennett’s Finding Mr. Christmas, Small Town Setup, Home Is Where The Heart Is, and Connie Britton’s The Motherhood. Now, they are doubling down with some enticing shows that are in development.
Here are some of the unscripted series the network is developing now.
Hallmark Developing More Unscripted Shows
Hallmark is developing more unscripted content. After the success of Celebrations With Lacey Chabert and Finding Mr. Christmas, Hallmark is developing more unscripted series. On Thursday, Business Wire reported that the network is developing more unscripted content. Thus is in addition to renewing Lacey Chabert and Jonathan Bennett’s series. The network has not revealed if they will renew Wes Brown’s Ready, Set Glow, Hometown Set Up, or Home Is Where The Heart Is.
Here are the series that are now in development.
Here are the four potential Reality Series With Heart:
- Baked With Love: Holiday: This series features home bakers in a family recipe bake-off. These bakers are able to “showcase their signature family holiday bakes and the heartfelt stories behind them.”
- Armed To Build: “Beloved Hallmark star Nikki DeLoach helps a community honor, celebrate, and give back to their first responders and veterans by delivering distinct life transformations, enabling them to continue their heroic work.”
- Daughter Of The Bride: In this series, adult daughters help their mothers “prepare for a new beginning to love.” This promises to be “genuine and heartfelt.”
- Murder Mystery House: Jonathan Bennett co-created this potential new series where they invite Sleuthers to “join in on the investigation–inviting them to a gorgeous mansion where there’s been a “murder.” These real-life sleuths must narrow down the suspects, made up of favorite Hallmark actors, and figure out who is the culprit for a cash prize.”
Where Will These Reality Series With Heart Air?
One question fans may want answered is where they will find these series. Firstly, when the network launched their first unscripted series, they aired on the streaming channel. However, starting with The Motherhood, which premieres on Monday, May 5, they are going to air the Reality With Heart shows on the Hallmark Channel. Furthermore, they add it to Hallmark+ the next day.
Hallmark Wants To Tell Stories ‘Year-Round’
Now that Hallmark has gone into Reality With Heart, they want to continue this part of their brand all year. According The Hollywood Reporter, David Stefanou, the network’s Head of Unscripted, shared, “Hallmark is known around Christmas time and around the holidays, but there’s an opportunity to tell those stories year-round.”
With Hallmark, people know what it is. So with our programming, we’re able to embrace it…we can actually make shows that are about the brand. Finding Mr. Christmas, it’s a little bit meta. It’s a hunt for the next Hallmark hunk. We know that those Hallmark stars are extremely popular with our viewers, so we formed a competition around it, you get both your entertainment value, and we actually created a new star in the process.
He also points out that the Hallmark brand “stands for something.” With their emerging unscripted programming that they call Reality TV With Heart, they are able to share new experiences with their brand.
