William deVry Wants To Bring Julian Jerome Back To ‘GH’
William deVry left General Hospital nearly four years ago when Julian Jerome was killed off, but now he wants to resurrect the mobster. Is there a chance he could return to the soap? Keep reading for the latest.
William deVry Sounds Off On General Hospital Firing
General Hospital fans were shocked by the decision to fire William deVry and kill off his character, Julian Jerome. Viewers were especially heartbroken at the unresolved relationship between Julian and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn.)
deVry joined the show in 2013 as the presumed dead mobster. Julian Jerome met his end in 2020 after getting shot.
The exit may have come as a surprise to viewers, but the actor saw the writing on the wall years before he was fired. He previously said that the writers didn’t seem interested in the character any longer. But that doesn’t mean he regrets his time on the soap.
He famously said after his exit that if he was fired from the show, he wouldn’t go back. Some fans took that as a diss against his co-stars, but that wasn’t the case at all. deVry recently spoke to soaps.com and clarified his comments.
“So, to be clear, it wasn’t because I didn’t love the show or my character or the people I worked with. I just felt that given the direction the character was going, there was nothing left to say.”
Wants To Bring Julian Jerome Back From The Dead
Despite saying he would never return, William deVry reveals that he told executive producer Frank Valentini that he would be “open” to resurrecting the character. deVry feels there was a lot of loose ends storyline wise and would jump at the chance to “fix” Julian Jerome’s legacy.
“Salvage Julian’s image within [the] context of what went down within Port Charles while also producing a brand-new fresh story (including all the history fans love) that would encompass a good portion of the characters… affected by Julian’s actions. Or perceived actions.”
Could It Happen?
As soaps.com pointed out, viewers saw the mobster in a body bag, which is pretty close to being dead-dead on soap operas. But where there’s a will, there’s a way. Is there a chance William deVry could make his way back to Port Charles?
After all, Valentini recently teased a major male character’s return. One of the names that keeps coming up on social media is William deVry returning as Julian Jerome.

Unfortunately, it seems that is just wishful thinking. The actor shut the idea down in the recent press interview.
“Frank knows that my ‘wish’ still stands. But with new writers and a ton of new characters on the show now, I don’t see that happening.”
