‘Melrose Place’ Alum Heather Locklear Suffers Tragic Loss
Heather Locklear announced that her father, Bill Locklear, had died. She posted the news on Instagram and called him “the most brilliant man I have ever known.” She called him the “love of my life.”

Heather Locklear Announces Father’s Death
Heather Locklear posted on Instagram that her father had died. She posted a photo of her dad with the announcement and then followed it up with a photo of her in her younger years, witting with her dad.
“The most brilliant man I have ever known. The bar is oh so high. The love of my life. The few the proud. I love you dad. RIP,” Heather wrote in an Instagram post.
Some of Heather’s celebrity friends commented on the post to share their thoughts. “I’m going to miss that man and his beautiful spirit,” wrote Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. I’m sorry for you and your family’s loss, Heather.” Tommy Lee and Heather Locklear were married from 1986 through 1993.

How Did Heather Locklear’s Dad Die?
Heather Locklear, 62, was clearly affected by her father’s death. According to PEOPLE, he had been “ailing for a while,” and he was in the hospital as early as February.

“Obviously, it was a very stressful time for the family,” the source told PEOPLE.
Other friends of Locklear chimed in with their condolences. Dawson’s Creek star Mary-Margaret Humes (Gail Leery) wrote, “I remember meeting him when I was with you many years ago …he was so handsome and kind … sending love to you and your family today.”
In 2019, Heather’s father celebrated his 90th birthday, so he enjoyed a long life with his kids and grandkids. Last year, her mother also turned 90, which Heather also celebrated with an Instagram post. This was a sad post for Locklear, who had previously posted that her daughter, Ava Sambora, was marrying her boyfriend Tyler Farrar. Sadly, Bill Locklear did not live to see his granddaughter’s wedding.
When Heather Locklear turned 60, she said she didn’t feel old and was grateful because “My parents still love me. My daughter loves me,”
