Teen Mom Amber Portwood Slammed With Massive Tax Lien
In the season premiere of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, things seemed to be going in a positive direction for Amber Portwood. The mother of two was moving back into her old home that she had previously shared with her ex, Andrew Glennon, and their son, James. Though that is still a sore spot for her, Amber was ready to make a good life for herself so she had help packing up all of her stuff. She also had a short window before Jade Cline and Sean Austin’s wedding. Amber attended the nuptials with ex-fiance and baby daddy, Gary Shirley.
She also let loose and met a woman named Chelsee who she went home with when the night was over. It seemed that this was going to be Amber’s season until the preview showed a downturn. Her daughter, Leah may want her stepmother to adopt her. This could turn Amber’s world upside down but there’s more outside of the show. According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, she has just been hit with a $59K tax lien from the state of California. This is an interesting development considering she resides in Indiana.
It went down on April 18th, 2024 when Amber Portwood was alerted she owed $59K in unpaid taxes to California. The unpaid tax debt is from 2020 and the “last known address” for Amber is her ex, Andrew Glennon’s Malibu mansion. However, Amber’s name is the only one listed so Andrew has nothing to do with this lien. It is unclear how this money was obtained. Yet, there are one of two ways: Corporation Tax or Personal Income Tax from funds earned in California. As of now, interest will just keep building on what she owes.
How Will It Affect Her In The Present?
Aside from the fact that Amber Portwood’s tax lien will keep growing until it is resolved, there is more trouble. The Teen Mom star was happily settling into her Indiana home but that could now be at risk due to her problems in California. Per the documents associated with the lien:
“Said lien attaches to the property and rights to such property now owned or later acquired by the taxpayer.”
Now, Amber is no stranger to liens as she had one for $134K in 2016 but that appears to have been resolved. Hopefully, she can get this squared away and continue on a positive path.
