A Selling Sunset spinoff series is coming, but there will be a major change that will alter everything about the series. That is because the new spinoff series is leaving California. This isn’t the first spinoff to leave the Sunshine State, but it is the first one that leaves the idea of a paradise to live in.

Here is what you need to know about the new Selling Sunset series.

Where Is New Selling Sunset Spinoff Located?

The original Selling Sunset series follows a high-end real estate firm with offices in Los Angeles, West Hollywood, and Newport Beach. The series follows the agents, their families, and their professional lives as they sell properties in the state where it always feels like summer.

There have been spinoffs before, with Selling the OC, which focuses on the Newport group, and Selling Tampa, which moves the show to Florida. This keeps it in the sunny and beautiful communities. However, the new series will go north to a place as known for snow and blizzards as it is for smog and heat. Selling Tampa follows Allure Realty while Selling Sunset and Selling the aOC follows Oppenheim Group.

Selling the City follows Douglas Elliman, a firm that sells luxury real estate in New York City.

What To Expect From Selling The City

The synopsis reads, “From intense competition to the fast-paced careers and personal dramas of these agents, Selling the City promises to deliver all the excitement against the stunning backdrop of the city’s real estate landscape.” Production on the series starts this spring.

However, this isn’t the only Netflix series coming that is about selling real estate in New York City. Selling the City will have to compete with the upcoming series Owning Manhattan. This series follows the SERHANT Agency and its founder Ryan Serhant. His series comes out on June 28, beating the Selling Sunset spinoff to the punch.

“After selling real estate for 12 years, I decided to start my own company,” Serhant says in his show’s promo, adding, “And if you can’t sell, you can’t be here.”

Serhant is known for his appearances in Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing New York, where he starred for 10 years. He then left in 2022 and focused on his firm, which is where the new show comes in. Million Dollar Listing New York picked up Emmy nominations but has been put on hold with both Serhant and Fredrik Eklund moving on.

Adam DiVello, who created Selling Sunset (and The Hills) is also producing Selling the City.
