Tori Spelling’s estranged ex, Dean McDermott has clapped back at her recent divorce filing. This comes after he was the one who initially broke the news that the couple were ending their marriage. So, what is Dean’s problem? Keep reading for all of the details.
Tori Spelling’s Estranged Ex Claps Back At Divorce Filing
After eighteen years of marriage, Tori Spelling finally filed for divorce from Dean McDermott. She even shared the phone call of her letting him know about the filing on her new podcast, misSPELLING. The two share five children, Liam, Stella, Hattie, Finn, and Beau. She was also stepmother to Dean’s son, Jack from his previous marriage to Mary Jo Eustace. In the summer of 2023, Dean released a statement on his social media sharing that he and Tori had called it quits. However, he quickly deleted it, leaving followers very confused. Tori has since shared that his making the statement was the best thing ever.
She and their kids went off to live at a motel and then in an RV before settling into a $15K/month house. As for Dean, he admitted he was battling substance abuse problems. He then moved on with Lily Calo and seemed relatively happy. Yet, he is now disputing Tori’s divorce filing from March 29th, 2024, according to People. Dean responded to what she filed on Monday, May 13, 2024. He agreed with irreconcilable differences as the reason to end their marriage. At the same time, he is disputing their actual separation date.

Tori Spelling listed the date of separation as June 17th, 2023 which makes sense. She went by the day that Dean McDermott released his Instagram statement that they were over. However, Dean has a later date and that is July 7th, 2023. Additionally, Tori would like sole, physical custody of their five children but Dean wants something else. He has requested joint physical and legal custody as well as spousal support for himself. Yet, he wants no spousal support for Tori whereas she asked to receive support and Dean gets nothing.
Moving On
Currently, Tori Spelling is doing her best with what she has and is leaning heavily on her family. She has said this on her podcast:
“We always say, ‘Hey, it made it 18 years. It shouldn’t have made it 18 years.’ And I think he would say the same thing if he and I had a real heart-to-heart. It would have been over a lot sooner.”
So, she knows this was for the best. However, she has noted that she would like more children but feels very alone. There was a lot of heat between the two when they first met. Dean McDermott is focusing on his sobriety but he is estranged from his eldest son, Jack. Yet, he has his new lady and is attempting to put the pieces back together.
