Randomly running into an ex is never fun. Bachelorette alum Jason Tartick revealed what happened the first time he ran into his ex, Kaitlyn Bristowe, after their breakup last summer. Was it as awkward as you’d imagine?
Bachelor Nation Exes Still Share Dogs
Jason Tartick and Kaitlyn Bristowe were together for nearly five years before breaking off their engagement in the summer of 2023.
The two never had children, but they were dog parents to two Golden Retrievers – Pinot and Ramen. Usually one person gets the dogs after a breakup, but Kaitlyn and Jason went a different route.
They created a schedule to share the dogs. But Bachelor Nation fans wonder how feasible that plan is for the long term, especially now that Jason Tartick is in a new relationship.
At this point, neither Kaitlyn or Jason have given any indication that they are willing to relinquish custody of the dogs, but we’ll see how it plays out in the future.
Jason Tartick Shares Story Of Run-In With Kaitlyn Bristowe
Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick starred on separate seasons of The Bachelorette. They met in 2018 when he was a guest on her podcast. She was going through a breakup with fiance Shawn Booth at the time. Kaitlyn and Jason publicly confirmed they were dating in 2019. An engagement followed in 2021.
But rumors swirled in early 2023 that the relationship was over. They took a few months to process the split before confirming it in August. In a new episode of his Trading Spaces podcast, Jason Tartick revealed that he ran into his ex at Chris Harrison’s wedding in November, two months after news of the breakup went public.
The finance bro said that it was the first time he’d seen his ex since he moved out of the home they shared in Nashville. According to PEOPLE magazine, Jason described the reunion as “I would describe it that there was a lot of energy that we were both holding, and it wasn’t maybe the best energy.”
He added that seeing his ex wasn’t awkward at all. “It was great. It was friendly, it was cordial, it was respectful.”
But what should have been a private moment was a very public one. The wedding guest list was full of Bachelor Nation alums who witnessed the run-in between the exes. Jason said that the guests “They’re all, like, kind of f—— with us.”
But it was all in good fun. Jason Tartick added, “And I just start laughing. Kaitlyn’s like, ‘What are you laughing [at]?’ I’m like, ‘The peanut gallery.’”
