Hallmark is getting into the fried chicken wars with its new series The Chicken Sisters. Based on KJ Dell’Antonia’s bestselling novel, this is a multi-generational family drama about two rival fried chicken shops, deep family secrets, and those special mother-daughter relationships set in the South. There is even a Food Wars reality competition amid all the drama. This book was one of Reese Witherspoon’s top picks. What is not to like?

What is The Chicken Sisters About?
According to TV Line, Hallmark’s new series The Chicken Sisters takes place in Merinac, a fictional town where two rival fried chicken restaurants, Mimi’s and Frannie’s, have been battling it out for generations. This has fractured the townspeople to choose sides and restaurants.
“When popular cooking competition show Kitchen Clash comes to town, this could be the recipe for ending this feud once and for all. But things are fixing to heat up both inside and outside of the kitchen as the reality show spotlight causes sparks to fly as secrets are spilled and feathers get ruffled.”
Showrunner Annie Mebane shared, “On the surface, the show is about two restaurants competing on a reality show, but it’s about the baggage we pass down through the generations and learning to unpack it.”

Who Stars In Hallmark’s The Chicken Sisters?
Starring in Hallmark’s The Chicken Sister are Lea Thompson, Wendie Malick, Schuyler Fisk, and Genevieve Angelson. On Instagram, Lea Thompson wrote, “Omg I love these people. Very fun.” In addition, last week Thompson shared a selfie with her “new fantastic costar” Wendie Malick. The two look like they are having a blast filming this new series.

When Will Hallmark’s The Chicken Sisters Premiere?
Hallmark’s new series The Chicken Sisters will premiere later this year. As Countdown To Christmas usually premieres in mid-October, it seems likely that these eight episodes should premiere by August, after Christmas In July. However, that information should be forthcoming. It seems likely that this new series will air on Sunday nights, just like the other network series.
In addition, this series should air on Peacock up to 72 hours after each episode premieres. Also, the network tagged the Hallmark Movies Now App. Currently, new episodes of When Calls The Heart, and previously The Way Home were available on the app the Monday after the premiere.
