Miss USA 2023, Noelia Voigt, has resigned from her role as the crowned champion. She released a statement that explained why she felt it was time to step down and what she felt about receiving the honor in the first place.

Here is what Noelia said about relinquishing her crown and leaving her role as Miss USA 2023.

Miss USA 2023 Resigns From Position

Noelia Voigt has resigned from her role as Miss USA 2023, and she released a statement to explain her reasoning. Voight won the pageant on September 29, 2023, ending her reign at just over seven months. However, she had a good reason to want to step down from her role.

In her statement, Noelia said that she had made the tough decision to resign from the title of Miss USA 2023. “In life, I strongly value the importance of making decisions that feel best for you and your mental health,” she wrote (via TV Line). While she didn’t say the exact reasoning behind her departure, her mention of “mental health” seems to be the indicator.

Noelia is also Miss Utah 2023 and is only the second person from Utah to win Miss USA. She said that is something she holds dear, as she wrote, “My journey as Miss USA has been incredibly meaningful, representing Utah with pride.” Noelia also competed at Miss Universe 2023, finishing in the top 20. During all her competitions, she took the anti-bullying stance as what she was most interested in promoting.

Noelia said she wanted to compete in beauty pageants as a child but her mom made her wait until she was a teenager. She then began to experience bullying by her peers in the pageants when she was 16. Noelia said she wanted to use her role as Miss USA to help her connect with people and bring them together.

Miss USA Organization Responds To Resignation

The Miss USA Organization responded to Noelia Voigt’s resignation in a separate statement. “We respect and support former Miss USA Noelia Voigt’s decision to step down from her duties,” they wrote. “The well-being of our titleholders is a top priority, and we understand her need to prioritize herself at this time.”

This comment hammers home that mental health concerns made Noelia step back from her role as Miss USA. What happened remains unknown, and is honestly a personal reason for her, so she will not likely speak up about it unless she feels it can help others in the future.

The Miss USA Organization said they are reviewing plans to transition to her successor and they will make a new announcement soon where they will crown the new title holder. Savannah Gankiewicz (Miss Hawaii 2023) was the runner-up, but it is not known if she will take over.
