Faith Martin Reacts To Gerry Turner, Theresa Nist Divorce
Three months after marrying in a widely-watched televised ceremony, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced they were divorcing. They shared the surprising news early Friday on Good Morning America.
According to Turner, it all came down to location. “We’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and — and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to — dissolve our marriage,” he told interviewer Juju Chang.
The two previously planned for Gerry Turner to move to Theresa Nist’s home in New Jersey. However, that plan never came to fruition.
When Gerry Turner sent contestant Faith Martin home on The Golden Bachelor, viewers speculated it was because she wouldn’t move away from her home state of Washington for love.
PEOPLE magazine reached out to the third-place runner-up for her reaction to the divorce news. “I wish them both all the happiness in the world, and I’m sure this was a traumatic thing to go through for both of them, so my heart goes out to them,” she told the outlet.
She added, “I’m sure everything will really be OK in the long run, and someday they’ll look back and just smile, hopefully.”
Shares Insight On Possible Cause
Faith Martin lived with Theresa Nist in the Bachelor mansion for weeks. It gave them the chance to become friends. Martin was one of the many former contestants to get an invite to the Golden Wedding.
So, what does Faith Martin think caused the fractures in Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s marriage? It has to do with transparency, she said.
“I think it is important to realize that on a show like this, it’s so important to be so transparent and so much yourself filled with honesty and truth and ask those right questions,” Faith Martin, PEOPLE magazine.
One of the right questions that Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist may not have asked was whether either were willing to leave their families and relocate across the country.
“Perhaps they just did not have enough time” to ask those questions, Faith Martin speculated.
