Nikki DeLoach Reveals How Curious Caterer Saved Mysteries At Hallmark
A few weeks ago, Nikki DeLoach and her writing partner Megan McNulty were on the Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast. They talked about many things including their new mystery series True Justice Mystery.
However, Nikki revealed to host Eric Rutin that not long ago, things were not looking so good for mysteries at Hallmark. She even revealed that the first Curious Caterer Mystery, Dying For Chocolate, was the “last ditch effort” to save mysteries altogether. That was only two years ago. What did she have to say?
Firstly, she shared that the plan was to get “rid of mysteries.” She continued, “And then we did one Curious Caterer and it relaunched the mystery network. and now we are pivoting, and it is just going to be a mystery channel. And what a success.”
She then attributed the success of the network to Sleuthers. “Truthfully, the reason why they did another mystery, and another mystery is because of the audience, the social media response, the response from people like you guys, who not only made a lot of noise about it but kept showing up in terms of ratings. That is the reason why we are doing a whole network that is just about mysteries”
