Gene Simmons Defends JoJo Siwa iHeartRadio Costume
JoJo Siwa showed up at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards in an interesting costume. She had her face painted up similar to KISS bassist Gene Simmons while wearing a revealing black and silver leather and fishnet outfit. It turned a lot of heads. It also brought out the people who love to hate everything about the former reality TV star.
However, Gene Simmons said he loved how JoJo dressed and defended the young star.
Gene Simmons Defends JoJo Siwa KISS Inspired Outfit
Now, JoJo Siwa wasn’t necessarily trying to dress like Gene Simmons of KISS. Her outfit and face makeup are from her latest music video for “Karma.” In the video, there is a “good girl” JoJo dressed in white and the bad girl Siwa dressed like she did at the iHeartRadio Awards. It is part of JoJo showing the world she isn’t a kid anymore as she moves into the next stage of her career.
However, the comparisons were still there and Gene Simmons wasn’t about to let people keep bullying Siwa. Simmons, 74, spoke to TMZ and said he loved the look. The KISS legend said, “JoJo is cool.” He explained why he loved her look and how it was a perfect direction for the former child star if she wanted to remain a star.
“Never be ordinary. Always be extraordinary,” Simmons said. “JoJo is extraordinary and she looks cool.” This makes sense as well. As mentioned, JoJo is trying to reinvent herself and move away from her teen pop persona and create something more mature and adult. Siwa turns 21 this May.
JoJo Siwa Releases New Music Video, ‘Karma’
JoJo Siwa was dressed like she was in part of her new music video “Karma.” The video went live on JoJo’s YouTube channel on April 5, 2024. According to Siwa, this is the first song from her “not made for children” era that she hopes will lead to the next stage of her career.

Siwa has spent much of the last month promoting the new music on her social media accounts, including adding lyrics to the new song. The song includes the lines, “I was a bad girl, I did some bad things. I swear I did it all for fun and it meant nothing.” It seems this is the theme for JoJo as she heads toward her 21st birthday this year.
Knowing she still has a lot of young fans. JoJo Siwa has tried to warn them and their parents about her upcoming music and video, as she wrote that “the following content is not made for children and may be disturbing or offensive to some viewers.” Also, she said there are sexual scenes, violence, strong language, and traumatic scenarios. This isn’t the same JoJo Siwa anymore.
