‘7 Little Johnstons’ Fans Slam Kids’s Side Hustles
Some 7 Little Johnstons fans recently took issue with the side hustles that Trent Johnston and Amber Johnston’s kids have. What did viewers have to say about these alternative streams of income for the Johnston children?
7 Little Johnstons Has Been Lucrative For The Whole Family
7 Little Johnstons is currently airing Season 14 on TLC. The show has been on the air since 2015. As one of the longer-running shows on the network, the family from Georgia has built up quite the fan base over the years. They’ve also been able to keep those TLC checks coming in.
The 7 Little Johnstons family pulls in between $25k to $40k per episode, which accounts for 10 percent of the production budget per episode. Some seasons have fewer episodes than others. However, over the years, that amount of money adds up, which has proven to be lucrative for everyone.
7 Little Johnstons Kids Have Branched Out With Side Businesses
As most reality stars do, they find a way to make even more money through various other projects, business ventures, and more. For some, that means a new spinoff. For others, that means launching a business. Having multiple streams of income is never a bad thing, and the 7 Little Johnstons kids have done that.
The 7 Little Johnstons children have craft-related businesses. Anna Johnston and Emma Johnston both sell handmade jewelry and other accessories. They both seem to be doing well for themselves. Certainly well enough for Anna to buy a house recently.
As for Alex Johnston, his side hustle is in a similar vein, but with a slightly different twist to it. Alex makes origami animals that he sells in his Etsy shop. You might not think that this would be a lucrative business, but, according to his Etsty store, he has made 919 sales as of this writing. This may not be a retirement plan, but he seems to be doing something right.
TLC Fans Slam Kids’s Side Businesses, Why?
These side hustles may be a good opportunity for Alex, Emma, and Anna to earn some extra cash and build their brand outside of the TLC show, but, not all viewers are fans of this.
- One viewer said: “The kids’ businesses all make me cringe so hard! Their crafts are all like cutesy hobbies that I can’t imagine actually spending money on. Not to mention their names are all horrific. Anna’s Fizz4Passion especially drives me up a wall.”
Not everyone was in agreement with trashing the side businesses of Trent and Amber Johnston’s kids. Some 7 Little Johnstons fans actually defended them and their alternative income streams.
One TLC watcher said: “No. If it makes them money, what’s the harm? Anna’s business seems to be doing well, and she’s moved from etsy. Good for them.”

I don’t think whatever each one of the children is doing to earn side money is anybody business. if they are stealing you won’t like it, what they’re doing is honest who cares. it shows they’re hard working and creative.
I agree, this show won’t last forever and their side businesses show they understand. Good for them, I hope they all succeed in what they want to do.
There is always someone that has something negative to say….It isn’t any one’s business what they are doing. It is legit, so leave them alone. Drama, drama drama!
