Jeopardy! is getting ready to celebrate its 60th anniversary and while doing so, it will be honoring the late Alex Trebek in the process. Keep reading for more details.

Jeopardy! Honors Alex Trebek During 60th Anniversary

Alex Trebek was synonymous with Jeopardy! for thirty-six years until he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He eventually opted to exit the show and the search for the perfect host was on. Of course, no one could ever replace Trebek, that would be impossible. They tried out a variety of personalities to see who was best suited for the job. In the end, Ken Jennings, a previous show champ, and actress Mayim Bialik, took on co-hosting duties. Fans had mixed feelings about Bialik and, after the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes were over, she was let go from the show.

Now, Jeopardy! is hitting its 60th anniversary, which is a huge milestone for a game show. That being said, they want to do something monumental yet very special at the same time. According to The Sun, they are taking the time to honor the late Trebek during the special celebration. Per the show’s social media accounts:

“The #JeoparDAY! 60th Diamond Celebration is here. Join the festivities by taking the Anytime Test (even if you’ve already taken it this year!).”

What does this mean? Every time someone takes this test, $6 will be donated to the Alex Trebek Fund at Stand Up to Cancer. However, the limit of tests that can be taken stops at 10K. In response to this generous contribution, SU2C wrote: “Thank you for your support of the Alex Trebek Fund at SU2C! We stand up for Alex, always.” Immediately, fans of the show who saw that this was happening were thrilled and had a lot to say about what they were doing.

It’s A Celebration

Jeopardy! fans loved the idea of celebrating and immediately chimed in on the game show’s Instagram account:

  • Happy birthday jeopardy??? yes we are go to celebrate in you 🎊🎊
  • I share a birthday with Jeopardy! and it’s the best fun fact I can think of rn ☺️
  • Happy birthday Jeopardy!!! We’ll celebrate in your honor today. ❤️❤️

Some did feel that the show could do more than 10K tests but it is still a generous way to honor Alex Trebek and the legacy of the show.
