Wendy Williams’ Large Payday For Tainted Docuseries
What was Wendy Williams’ large payday for her tainted Lifetime docuseries? It has shown a very sad side to the former talk show host. Some felt that it was exploitative but what was she paid to share this part of her life? Read on for more details.
Wendy Williams’ Large Payday For Tainted Docuseries
The docuseries, Where Is Wendy Williams? was hard for fans of Wendy’s to watch. It showed a very sad side of a once sassy and full-of-life woman. Now, she can barely recognize familiar faces and is dragged along to events that she has no comprehension of. More so, viewers were able to see a different side of Blac Chyna who had long been friends with Wendy. She came by to see her friend and show her love. It was a sweet but very vulnerable moment that broke the hearts of viewers. So, how much was Williams paid to show her new life off?
According to The Sun, she was paid a total of $400K for the Lifetime docuseries. Per her contract, it says this: “The following fees shall be payable to Artist. In the aggregate sum of $100,000 per regular original episode of the initial cycle of the series for which artists recognizably appear.” Williams was in each episode of the docuseries therefore she was paid as such. Additionally, if Williams went 100+ miles from her home, she would receive wound trip business airfare, a suite plus two standard hotel rooms.
Finally, round-trip transportation to and from airports was provided to the personality as was a $75 stipend. This docuseries has been a big issue for those in Wendy Williams’ camp. Sabrina Morrissey, who acts as her guardian, attempted to stop it from airing. However, she was clearly unsuccessful. According to Morrissey, though no diagnosis had been made just yet, Williams was incapable of signing the documents in her right mind.
“She was not, and is not, capable for consenting to the terms of the documentary Contract. And no one acting in [Wendy’s] best interest would allow her to be portrayed in the demeaning manner in which she is portrayed in the Trailer for the documentary.”
The Exploitation Of It All
Sabrina Morrissey is of the mindset that Lifetime purely used what Wendy Williams was going through for entertainment. Therefore, Morrissey says the network: “unconscionably exploiting [Wendy’s] condition, and perhaps even disclosing her personal and private medical diagnosis, for perceived ‘entertainment value’ and the prurient interest of television viewers.” Fans really hoped Wendy would end up being taken care of in the long run:
I hope Wendy Williams will finally have her family taking care of her. A bank should never be able to control one’s finances. Hope she has a few more moments to enjoy life, her son… Her condition just saddens me #peaceandlove

I love the way Wendy’s eyes lights up when ever she sees her son. That is her happiest times I noticed in the series.
So sad about this phase of Wendy’s life 😢, I miss WENDY WILLIAMS 😭.#WendyWilliams #wendy #whereiswendywilliams

Despite what she got paid for the docuseries, she did not deserve how they portrayed her. Wendy is not the same person many fans remember and it is really a tragic situation. In the end, hopefully, she will get her redemption and a new moment to shine.
What do you think of Wendy’s $400K paycheck? Should Lifetime pay out more for exploiting her simply for entertainment value or should she have been protected better prior to signing the contract? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
