Some Deadliest Catch fans are no longer happy with the direction that Discovery Channel has taken with the show, but have they just about “killed it?” Actually, some people get quite hot under the collar about it, especially with women on the vessels. Sophia Nielsen on F/V Victory is not the only one to take to the sea.

Deadliest Catch Is Fake These Days & Discovery Channel Is Killing It?

Discovery Channel fans with complaints think there’s a lot of fakery and acting. For many fans, it seems ridiculous that a veteran of the sea would shed tears during interviews. Season 14, critics opine, might have been the last half-decent one to watch. Nowadays, many people feel that most of the show is too scripted to relate to the real day-to-day challenges of crabbing.

Complaints about the show are not a new thing, and in 2015, an IMDb reviewer said:

We used to really like this show and have watched it for many years. But season 15 s*cks. They’ve ruined it. Cr*ppy music playing in spots over the action. And those awful “Oprah for Fisherman” sections where all they do is sit around and blah, blah, blah.

However, the poor opinions of people who hate the direction that Deadliest Catch takes might be in the minority. Plenty of people still love the Discovery Channel and some of them make a point of watching the boats and the crews.

Captain Sig Hansen & Mandy Killing The Discovery Channel Show?

In 2021, fans saw that Captain Sig Hansen started training his daughter to be the captain of the F/V Northwestern. At the time, he admitted to some trust issues. It’s not clear what season or episode a person recently watched. Perhaps it was one of the older ones with Mandy in it. Anyway, on Reddit, a critic took issue with women on the vessels. The OP wrote:

They killed the show…It blows my mind how it’s possible to destroy a show like dealiest catch, but they sure did. I mean, Sig Hansen is obviously a sellout c*ck and would s*ck a d*ck for a few dollars. But the whole show is just a boring staged soap opera now. Why can’t we just have some cool non ideological entertainment anymore? A chick has to be in every crew… Everyone this isn’t literally retarded. understand that women can only function in that situation if they get special treatment. Enough with this sociatel rot.

Not everyone agreed that the Deadliest Catch show is ruined to the point where it’s unwatchable. In the comments, a few people just skip through the parts they don’t like. However, others also have strong opinions.

  • Sig’s chick is his daughter and the only person he has to pass the torch off to so they are putting that reality into the reality show I guess. I just DVR it and FF through the parts I don’t like (which is usually anything involving Keith’s boat.
  • The whole Discovery Channel is a shell of what it used to be.
  • It’s not that serious. My favorite show Ink master was completely ruined. Just move on. That’s what I did.
  • Imagine being this dumb and misogynist.
