How To Watch The 2024 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards
Awards season is underway. There have been the Grammys, Golden Globes, Peoples Choice, and Emmys. Now, it is time for the Screen Actors Guild Awards voted on by members of SAG-AFTRA. As many are well aware, they spent 118 days on strike. Finally, they came to an amicable resolution and everyone was reasonably happy. It is now time for them to hand out awards to those who excelled in both television and film. It was a big year for Barbie and Oppenheimer as well as The Bear, Succession, and Beef.
The who’s who of Hollywood will be there and it is even more special after the fight that they went through. Plus, Barbra Streisand will take home the Lifetime Achievement Award. As they have done the last several years, and it seems to have worked, there will be no set host. Now, this show usually airs on cable but for the first time ever, this is not happening. Rather, the Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place on Netflix. So, unless one has a subscription, they will be unable to watch it.
For those more interested in SAG fashion, that will be available on Netflix as well as YouTube and TikTok. Though this concept may be hard for those who do not have Netflix, it has been suggested to have viewing parties. Some are simply getting the streamer for one month at the most basic, ad-filled package that costs $6.99. Unfortunately, there is no free trial but this may be a fun event that is worth the money for a nice Saturday night. For context, the Oscars air on March 10th.
Not So Happy
There is heavy promotion going on for the SAG Awards right now to let people know where they can find it. Unfortunately, not everyone is so happy with the idea that they would have to get Netflix just for the event.
