Whoopi Goldberg has made comments hinting at an upcoming hiatus from an event with her co-hosts from The View. The award-winning actress seemed less than enthused about the upcoming Jennifer Lopez concert that her fellow co-hosts are attending together. Then she hinted at leaving the show for other work. Keep reading to see what Whoopi Goldberg said and why she might be missing from The View.

The View  Hosts Plan To See J-Lo In Concert

The View moderators were discussing the possibility of creating a choreographed dance for the next time Jennifer Lopez came to the show. Producer Brian Teta told the hosts that they should start rehearsing as soon as possible. J-Lo is expected to be a guest on The View before she goes on tour this summer.

Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin said that they were both interested in putting together a routine. Ana Navarro, on the other hand, said she wasn’t interested in doing any dancing. Instead, she plans on attending J-Lo’s upcoming tour.

“I’m gonna be sitting watching [Jennifer] on stage. I’m going to her concert. I’m not dancing,” Ana told her co-hosts. The other women considered this and proposed that they all go to the concert together. “Whoopi in?” Brian Teta asked from behind the camera.

Whoopi Goldberg declined the invite saying, “I’m not here. Remember, I’m working. You know what I’m doing.” Her statement hinted at an upcoming hiatus that may be longer than her usual breaks from The View.

Will Whoopi Goldberg Be Leaving The View?

Of course, the EGOT winner has plenty of other business ventures to focus on. She is planning to release her new memoir Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me on May 7, 2024. According to Whoopi, the book is a dedication to her mother and brother and their “time together as a small, funny little unit.”

“This book is dedicated to everyone who is just trying to figure out the small stuff as well as the stuff where you have to be more than you thought you could be and it’s dedicated to love,” she said about the project.

Whoopi Goldberg’s mother, Emma Harris, died in 2010. Her brother, Clyde K. Johnson, died in 2015. The book is another way for her to preserve their memories.

This isn’t the first book Whoopi has published. Her first book Is It Just Me?: Or Is It Nuts out There? came out in 2011. In 2015, she wrote If Someone Says “You Complete Me,” RUN!: Whoopi’s Big Book of Relationships. She came out with Two Old Broads: Stuff You Need to Know That You Didn’t Know You Needed to Know with Dr. M.E. Hecht in 2022. The ABC host is also the author of the children’s series The Sugar Plum Ballerinas.

It is unclear if her book project will be taking her away from The View or if it will be something else commanding the host’s attention. If her hints at a hiatus mean anything, viewers can expect her to be missing from the show more often in the near future.

The View airs on weekdays at 11 a.m. on ABC.
