In response to the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade mass shooting, pop megastar Taylor Swift has donated $100K to the family of one deceased victim.

On February 14, a heated argument ultimately led to a mass shooting that killed one and injured 22 others following a Super Bowl victory parade. “This appeared to be a dispute between several people that ended in gunfire,” Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves told reporters. Despite arresting three suspects, it is still unclear as to what set the argument off.

Following the shooting, Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old Kansas City DJ, was named as the deceased victim in the incident.

Taylor Swift Donates $100K In Wake Of ‘Devastating Loss’

One day after the shooting, a GoFundMe was created to support the family of Lopez-Galvan. “This fund has been set up to benefit the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan. Lisa was celebrating the Chiefs Super Bowl Victory parade when senselessly killed,” reads the message on the GoFundMe page.

Additionally, Lopez-Galvan’s family painted a picture of a loving and caring woman. “She is survived by two children and her husband of 22 years. She was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. We ask that you continue to keep her family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of her life. This fund will help provide vital financial support to her family as they process this unthinkable tragedy. Any amount is appreciated.”

As of February 16, the fund has raised over $260,000 through three thousand donations. But perhaps the two most notable donations have come from Taylor Swift. In the early morning hours of February 16, Swift made two separate donations of $50,000. “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss,” Swift wrote in the comment section of the GoFundMe page.

Family And Friends Remember Lisa Lopez-Galvan

Following the death of Lopez-Galvan, many friends and family members have come out to honor their loved one. In an interview with Anderson Cooper, Lopez-Galvan’s brother, Beto Lopez, “We have tragic situations like this one that occur unfortunately way too often. And a lot of times, individuals get lost as just statistics or numbers,” Lopez said.

Despite the tragic loss of his sister, Lopez says that Lopez-Galvan’s legacy will continue on. “She did a lot for this community and the Kansas City area. Raising money for a lot of charitable events and organizations, and it’s something we’ll be very proud of forever.”

According to KKFI, Lopez-Galvan co-hosted the “A Taste of Tejano” show, which aired every Tuesday. In a February 14 Facebook post, KKFI honored Lopez-Galvan. “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, host of ‘Taste of Tejano’ lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally. Our hearts and prayers are with her family,” the post reads. “This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community.”

Undoubtedly, Taylor Swift’s $100K donation will likely lead to increased publicity for Lopez-Galvan’s GoFundMe page. But how many more donations will roll in? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
