Clayton Echard Opens Up About How Lawsuit Affected Him
Clayton Echard has been open about his mental health struggles during his time filming The Bachelor and beyond. He faced backlash during his season for his treatment of Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia.
However, nothing could have prepared him for the media coverage of the legal trouble he found himself in last year. In September 2023, news broke that the reality star was named in a paternity suit. An unidentified woman claimed that he was the father of her unborn twin babies.
Clayton Echard denied the claim from the beginning, but the court case continued to drag out. In the latest bombshell, the woman’s lawyers informed the court in December that she’s no longer pregnant. However, the case has yet to be dismissed.
If the court rules in his favor, the Bachelor star plans to sue the woman for defamation.
Clayton was a recent guest on the Unplanned podcast. He shared nitty-gritty details with host Matt Frazer about his encounter with the anonymous woman. The former pro football player admits to having sexual relations with her, but not penetration that would result in a pregnancy.
The former Bachelor star got candid about how the legal case took him down a dark path with his mental well-being. He also revealed that he lost $1.3 million defending himself after quickly running through the GoFundMe money his fans donated on his behalf.

Clayton Echard hasn’t been publicly linked to anyone since his breakup with Susie Evans. Instead of moping on Valentine’s Day, he took to his Instagram Story to wish his followers a Happy Valentine’s Day.
“In a parallel universe out there somewhere, some giving birth to twins today, but not in this one,” he joked in the video.
