Does Hallmark Plan New ‘When Calls The Heart’ Spinoff?
At the recent TCA 2024 Winter Panel, Hallmark Media addressed whether they will make a When Calls The Heart spinoff in the near future. Already, the series that is based on the Janette Oke books had one spinoff When Hope Calls. However, Hallmark only made one season.
Therefore, what should Hearties expect in the future? Here are the latest details.
Will Hallmark Make A When Calls The Heart Spinoff?
On Tuesday, at the TCA (Television Critics Association) Winter Panel, Hallmark Media EVP of Programming, Lisa Hamilton Daly, spoke to Variety about the feel-good network’s plans.
The publication asked, “Speaking of your series When Hope Calls is seemingly on pause. Have you guys discussed any other expansion of the When Calls The Heart universe?
Daly admitted “We always have conversations about how to expand our IP. It is a constant conversation, but for that one, it’s going well still.”
Then, she posed a question on what this spinoff would be about. “It’s hard to think, who would you peel off? Erin is really central to the show, as many of the cast members are.”
It sounds like she was mentally figuring out who they could remove from the OG and create a separate series. She cited Erin Krakow, and quickly dismissed this idea, as the actress is the core of the series.
Eventually, Lisa Hamilton Daly posed one scenario where they could do a spinoff. That would be when the series is done. “It’s possible, were that show to reach a conclusion, then we might think about what to do, but at this point, we plan to keep going.”
Essentially, she answers that there are no plans for a WCTH spinoff. But, when that day comes and the lights are out in Hope Valley, they will consider a spinoff.

When Hope Calls Went To Great American Family
Hallmark had one When Calls The Heart spinoff. That is When Hope Calls. This starred Morgan Kohan and Jocelyn Hudon. Season 1 premiered on Hallmark Movies Now in 2019. Then, they put it on the Hallmark Channel, right after WCTH. However, Hallmark never renewed this spinoff.
However, in 2021, Great American Family announced that they were now going to make When Hope Calls Season 2. They filmed two episodes for the Great American Christmas programming. This featured the return of Lori Loughlin and a ghost cameo by Daniel Lissing.
But, GAF never made another episode. Therefore, it seems that this series will not be revived again.
