Did Lisa Vanderpump close PUMP after a decade for retirement reasons? Viewers watched as she and some of the Vanderpump Rules crew said goodbye to the restaurant. Yet, was there a deeper reason for her opting not to renew the lease? Read on for more details.

Lisa Vanderpump Closed PUMP For Retirement Reasons?

Fans of Vanderpump Rules were there when Lisa Vanderpump first opened PUMP. It was a huge deal as it would be joining SUR and Villa Blanca which has since closed. The pandemic forced a lot of places to shut their doors and Villa Blanca was a casualty along with the landlord. PUMP was also the first place Tom Schwartz attempted to bartend but failed. Then, TomTom came along and joined the plethora of LVP ventures but sadly, PUMP had to close. It was mentioned that the landlord was raising the rent exponentially and the commitment was ten years which was far too much.

Though LVP and her husband, Ken Todd loved PUMP, they also had other projects in the works. So, though it was sad, it was more of a bittersweet moment. Yet, was there more to closing the doors than just a greedy landlord? In the episode, Lisa is talking about the future if they had chosen to extend their lease. According to Bravo, this is what LVP had to say:

“After 10 years, we’ve decided to close Pump. It’s bittersweet, but the rent’s going up, and it’s going to be exponentially more expensive, and Ken’s looking to retire. If we take it on for another ten years, that means Ken will still be stomping the pavements of West Hollywood when he’ll be in his 80s. I’d be in my 40s. That is way too old.”

So, even though many factors were to be considered, was retirement one of the main ones? It sounds like Lisa Vanderpump wanted to make decisions based on what she and Ken could justifiably do together. Though he can do a lot now, in ten years, it may be very different.

Lisa Vanderpump did reopen PUMP next to TomTom so she is truly dominating the street. Along with that, she has so many more projects, one in Lake Tahoe that will be featured on Vanderpump Rules.  “Opening this winter, Wolf will be filled with bold and unique design, taking elements from the character and identity of the wolf itself,” she shared. Additionally, Pinky’s by Vanderpump opens in Summer 2024 so there is so much to look forward to. Maybe Ken will be pounding the pavement past his retirement.

Do you think these two will ever retire or are they just creating a legacy for their children? Let us know and watch Vanderpump Rules Tuesdays on Bravo.
