Who Was ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ Nathan Smothers’ Father?
Recently, in the new season of Farmer Wants A Wife, Nathan Smothers was introduced as one of the four new farmers. Although all four farmers seem to be great catches, Nathan admittedly is mature and ready to find his person. Sadly, he had to grow up quickly after the loss of his father. But who was his father?
Meeting Nathan Smothers
During the first episode of Farmer Wants A Wife, fans met the new farmers: Ty Ferrell, 42, Mitchell Kolinsky, 27, Brandon Rogers, 29, and Nathan Smothers, 23. Each new stud has a lot to offer the thirty-two ladies on parade. But the youngest cowboy, Nathan, is a fourth-generation cattle and citrus farmer from Bartow, FL. Notably, Nathan revealed his history came with sorrow. Undoubtedly, he followed in his father’s footsteps much sooner than anyone had planned. Sadly, at the age of twelve, Nathan and his family tragically lost the head of the household, Bobby Ray Smothers.

Who Was Nathan Smothers’ Father?
When Bobby Ray Smothers passed on, Nathan Smothers quickly became the man of the house at the young age of twelve. But Nathan knew he needed to step in and help provide for his mother, Sabrena Albritton Smothers, and his three sisters, Savannah Lowen, Nicole, and Aubrey. Although Bobby was only fifty years old at the time of his passing, his obituary leads fans to believe he had a strong presence in his community. Notably, he was an elder and deacon at the Bartow Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Additionally, he led their church youth group for several years. Not only did Bobby continue the family farm legacy, but he also held several other jobs before his death. For instance, his experience includes work at Carpenter Co. and sales management for Allied Aerofoam Products. Additionally, he is noted for being on the founding board of the Geneva Classical Academy as well.
Taking Over For His Best Friend
While the cause of death for Nathan Smothers’ father is unknown, the two seem to be close during his growing up. On Instagram, Nathan shares, “He was my all time best friend. You will never be forgotten. 3 years has seen a lot longer with out you love you some much and always will.” Furthermore, the condolences left for Bobby paint a picture of a strong Christian man who loved his family. Seemingly, his smile was one of his memorable qualities and he was a devout Gators fan. Unmistakably, he was remembered for his care and hard work ethic.

Legacy Of Love
Notably, Bobby Smothers’ legacy was not just the farm, but the family he left behind. Additionally, before his death, Bobby and Nathan Smothers’ mother, Sabrena Albritton Smothers’ marriage lasted twenty-five years. Although Nathan is taking a non-traditional route to finding a wife, he hopes to have a partner with him until the end of time. And it sounds like he has a great example from his father to base that union.
Nathan Smothers Family Tragedy And Strength
Unfortunately, Nathan Smothers’ father wasn’t the first big loss in his immediate family. Sadly, the family also lost Nathan’s brother, Caleb Smothers. Although not many details aren’t available, his gravestone lists only one date, February 19, 1997. Although it was before Nathan was born, the family has endured a great deal of tragedy. However, even with the trauma they have experienced, they seem to have strength in their relationships. Even so, Nathan has embraced his role carrying the family legacy forward. Additionally, he is a proud uncle to six nieces and nephews, one of whom arrived just last month.
