Randy Jackson

Randy Jackson is known for his cool persona and his talent as a musician. For years, he gave his critiques as an American Idol judge. These days, however, Jackson makes headlines for a completely different reason: his health. With everything he has been through of late, here’s everything we know about his health issues.

American Idol Judge Randy Jackson Struggled With Weight

Even though Randy Jackson has been in the industry for decades, he was introduced to an entirely new generation of fans when he was part of the judging panel of the first stint of American Idol. Even back then, Randy was known for his cool demeanor, swag, and more.

The other thing American Idol watchers noticed about him, however, was his weight. Randy Jackson was over 350 pounds back then. Due to this, it didn’t take him long to realize that he had to make some drastic lifestyle changes for his health.

Randy Jackson Diagnosed With Type 2 Diabetes

For any fans wondering about Randy Jackson’s health, the Name That Tune bandleader was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2002. Some symptoms of the disease include excessive thirst, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, blurred vision, and more.

One of the things that viewers comment on a lot is Randy Jackson’s thinner appearance. Many even agree that he looks sickly. Certainly, the weight loss from his type 2 diabetes could be a factor. He also had gastric bypass surgery in 2003, which helped him drop 100 pounds.

Fans Worried About Name That Tune Bandleader

Even though it has been well-documented that Randy Jackson has type 2 diabetes, many viewers worry that there could be something more affecting him. In addition to his thinner frame, recent speculation surrounds what many see as mobility issues for the music producer.

When filming Name That Tune, Jackson is primarily seated behind the piano. Along with that, however, during an interview on Live with Kelly and Mark, rather than coming out from backstage, as guests typically do, Jackson was already seated before the interview segment started.

Of course, Randy Jackson hasn’t been spotted walking with a cane or needing a wheelchair. So, it could be nothing but speculation as to whether or not he actually has trouble getting around. Even so, in every new interview or new clip featuring the music producer and industry veteran, there are always comments asking what’s wrong with him.

It could be that his slimmer figure is due to a combination of both the surgery he had, as well as his type 2 diabetes causing him to slim down. However, until something more comes from Jackson himself, his fans will more than likely continue to speculate.
