April Kirkwood reveals if she did Golden Bachelor to gain fame
April Kirkwood appeared in the premiere season of The Golden Bachelor. She is a very outgoing woman and was hoping to find love or was she? She has previously written a book about the time she spent with superstar Frankie Valli. April actually had a love affair with him for many years.
So, many years later, after her husband passed away, April decided to get back out there. However, many wondered if she went on the show to find love or to find more fame. Which is it?
April went to her Instagram Story to answer this question she gets asked a lot. She said she did The Golden Bachelor to try and move on after Ralph died, it was not for fame. She continued saying his death was the worst thing she had ever experienced.
April said she was afraid to go on the show but also afraid to stay in the house just crying. This is the reason she went on the show. Now, she is finally ready to date again and the show really helped her move forward.
Her time with Frankie
In an interview, April Kirkwood talked about the book she wrote about her long-time relationship with Frankie Valli. She told Vulture that she was 16 and couldn’t walk away from him. She didn’t know he was married.
April said, “I could not give up Frankie Valli. There was something between him and me — I can’t speak for him, but it just kept going on and on. I didn’t know if he was married or not. This was before Google, before computers, before anything. I was 16 years old. I didn’t care. And it was the ’70s. Everybody was sleeping with everybody.”
She also wanted everyone to know that she didn’t write the book to make everyone look badly toward Frankie. April said, “I didn’t write that book to imply he was a bad person, or he was grooming me. The press took that. Now, was he? I don’t know. I care for him, so I don’t want to see that, because, once again, he was my safe place. People say, ‘He was a pig. He shouldn’t have done that.’ I hope that’s not the case. I think he had lots of women. But I didn’t have lots of Frankie Vallis. I only had one. And I can’t judge him.”
