‘Love On The Spectrum’ Cast Member Calls Out Production
Kaelynn Partlow, star of the Netflix docuseries, Love On The Spectrum, speaks out regarding Netflix’s decision to not bring her back for Season Two.
In 2022, Love On The Spectrum U.S. debuted on Netflix as one of the streaming platform’s most popular new shows. Based on the original Australian production, the show followed a handful of adults with autism as they navigated the dating world.
As one of the show’s cast members, Partlow described her experience as surreal. In an interview with The Art Of Autism, Partlow discussed the uncertainty of being on the show. “I saw an ad on Facebook and one Zoom interview led to another Zoom interview. Next thing I knew, Netflix was on my doorstep,” Partlow said. “I wasn’t sure it was real until it happened, and even then, I wasn’t sure it was actually going to be on Netflix until I was in a room watching it with family and friends.”
Despite trying her best to find love, Partlow was unable to locate the right partner for her.
Kaelynn Partlow’s Story Has ‘Already Been Told’
In a December 2023 TikTok, Partlow revealed that she would not be a part of the show’s second season. “I didn’t get picked to be on the next season of Love On The Spectrum,” Partlow said as she began her TikTok. “Let’s talk about it.”
Partlow says that while she was initially asked to come back to the show, Netflix ultimately chose to go in a different direction. “I said yes. But months later, they said they weren’t coming back to this part of the country to film,” she said. “So it just wouldn’t work out.”

Although she was eager to return to Love On The Spectrum, Partlow says that Netflix believes that there is nothing left to say in her story. Something that didn’t quite sit well with her. “I was bummed, but I understood,” she admits. “That is, until the production crew invited me to dinner in my hometown.”
Being ‘Less Exciting For Viewers’
Partlow says that while she was confused by the offer, she decided to attend the dinner. That’s where she found out the real reason for her dismissal. “They said they as though my story had already been told,” she revealed. “And that I’ve been able to use my social media to continue telling my own story. Which is true.”
Since appearing on Love On The Spectrum, Partlow has continued to amass an impressive social media following. She currently sports nearly 300,000 followers on Instagram. On TikTok, she has an additional 442,000 followers.
Despite her popularity, Partlow believes that her dating preferences are why Netflix moved on from her. “My preferences for dating a neurotypical man were not in alignment with the matches they were trying to create for everyone,” She says. “In other words, my preference made finding matches more difficult for them and less exciting for viewers.”
