Here is what happened to Randy Edwards after leaving Swamp People.
Randy Edwards died a few short years after leaving Swamp People
Randy Edwards was one of the main cast members of Swamp People for the first six seasons of the show. He was 27 at the start of the show and appeared alongside his father Junior and mother Theresa. However, he left the series in 2014. When departing, he said he wanted to devote more time to his personal life. He also said that he wanted to do this away from the television cameras.
It was sad for Swamp People fans to see him go but Randy felt that was the best for him at the time. However, Randy only saw a few more birthdays and died at the age of 35. Randy’s death came on September 16, 2018. Randy was in a car crash in Iberville Parish and died on the scene.
The accident saw him crash his car into a utility pole at 3 a.m. that morning. Police said at the time impairment was suspected (via The Advocate). The troopers on the scene said that Randy “failed to negotiate a left-hand curve” (via WAFB). They said he traveled to the right side of the road, hit the utility pole, and his vehicle overturned, which ejected Randy from the vehicle.
A friend of the family named Ronnie announced his passing on Facebook. He wrote, ” Junior and Theresa’s son (and) Willie’s brother, Randy, passed away in a vehicle accident early this morning. Randy was 35.” The next day, his former agent, Amy Berteau, confirmed the death.

What happened to Junior Edwards on Swamp People?
By the time that Randy Edwards had died, his parents were no longer on the show either. One year after Randy left the show, the HISTORY Channel reality show fired several Swamp People stars. Among them was Junior Edwards. This came after season 6 when a dozen cast members were fired.
There were rumors that the Edwards family asked for more money, but Junior said that wasn’t true. “To clear up gossip and BS, we never asked for anything. Only communication we had with the production company was when we were told that we would not be on the show anymore” (via In Touch Weekly). He then said he made his living off the bayou and doesn’t need a TV camera to keep doing that.
Junior returned for season 12 in 2021, where he appeared in three episodes.
