In a recent Instagram post, Tina showed off her progress. She encouraged fans to keep chasing down their own goals and even promoted her new podcast. And of course, fans had questions about the show’s future. So far, TLC hasn’t spoken much about it, leading many to believe it’s been quietly canceled.

“Way to go! Is a season 2 for the show coming in 2024?” a fan asked, although they meant to ask about Season 3. So far, 1000-Lb Best Friends already has two seasons.

However, Tina’s response caught many off guard.

“I don’t know. I choose to no longer be affiliated with the show if it decided to move forward,” the 1000-Lb Best Friends star replied. “It’s just not for me and my family. I don’t want surgery, and there’s no room for weight loss without surgery on television.

Fans react to the 1000-Lb Best Friends star’s update

There are still many who would love to see 1000-Lb Best Friends return to TLC. But even so, many of Tina’s followers applauded her move.

Some of the comments included:

  • “Good for you! You’re strong and I love following you here on IG. You have a family as do I and I could relate so much to you on the show. I’m happy you’re happy doing it your way. ❤️”
  • Diet and exercise and eating healthy is the best way to [go.]”
  • I would love to keep up with your journey on FB Hun. I’m sad we won’t see you on the show if they renew, I understand it but you’ll be missed.”
  • Good job putting YOU first!”

All in all, it probably doesn’t surprise most viewers that Tina chose to leave. After all, the series did push for her to have surgery, which was something she was always vocally against from the start. The series also seemed to take a toll on her marriage, as she and her husband Johnnie struggled to adjust to the extra attention online.
