‘Name That Tune’ Fans Worry Over Randy Jackson’s Shocking Weight Loss
If celebrities lose or gain a lot of weight, fans notice. When it comes to Randy Jackson, Name That Tune fans are concerned.
Randy Jackson has always been known for his weight issues. Even as a judge on American Idol, fans shared their concern with how overweight he was. Now fans are concerned that he’s gone too far the other way after his appearance on Name That Tune, where he plays the piano.
Randy Jackson’s Battle With His Weight and Health
The 67-year-old former American Idol judge weighed in at 350lbs when he was diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes in 2002. After that, he realized that he needed to do something about his weight. It was a wake-up call realizing that he had a disease that he couldn’t completely treat, but that he could manage. That led to gastric bypass surgery to help with the initial weight loss.
His weight continued to be a struggle, though. In his 2008 self-help book, he shared more about his weight loss journey and is overall health problems. His aim wasn’t to garner sympathy but to raise awareness about it. He continues to do that as he shares more and more about his health issues.
He has lost more than 200lbs over the years, with much of that in a short space of time.
Fans Worried About Randy’s Weight Loss
Now it looks like he’s gone too far the other way. Fans are concerned about how frail he looks. He plays the piano on Name That Tune and fans took to social media after the most recent episode. The Tuesday, Jan. 9 episode featured The Bachelor‘s Colton Underwood and The Other Tucker‘s Jesse Metcalf. It was during that episode that The Sun says the show opted for a close-up on Jackson’s hands. Many fans noted they looked as frail as his face.
Fans took to Twitter/X to share their concerns saying:
- “Randy Jackson looks like a marionette we just can’t see the strings, took the weight loss a bit far…”
- “Randy Jackson is hard to look at.”
- “I’m seriously worried about Randy Jackson he looks like he was made in the wax museum,”
This is not the first time fans have sparked their concern over the American Idol judge’s weight loss. During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, fans took to social media to share their concerns, too. Jackson didn’t talk about his weight loss during the appearance. Instead, the focus was on Name That Tune, his most current TV gig.
While in a lot of cases it seems like celebrities can’t win, this is just a case of fans being worried about a celebrity’s health. A drastic weight loss can be shocking to look at. It may not have helped matters that he was already seated when the show returned from a commercial break, so fans didn’t get a chance to see how he moves.
