Did Bachelor Nation fans tune in or boycott the Golden Wedding after Gerry Turner’s scandalous past was revealed? Keep reading to find out what the ratings reveal.

Fans Slam Gerry & Theresa For ‘Weird’ Wedding Request

Despite the unconventional start of their relationship, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s wedding was a joyous and happy occasion. Even his ex, Leslie Fhima, put her pride aside to attend the event.

However, some fans were put off by a post from the network prior to the wedding. The Golden Bachelor‘s official Facebook and Instagram pages encouraged viewers to visit the couple’s wedding registry on Amazon.

Many fans thought the move was ‘tacky,’ but it gets even weirder. As Heavy revealed, the registry link isn’t to buy Gerry and Theresa gifts. Instead, shoppers are encouraged to choose an item from the list to buy for themselves.

The registry is a paid partnership between ABC and Amazon that gives the network a cut of the purchases. Did ABC need viewers to finance the wedding?

Bachelor Nation Fans Boycott Golden Wedding After Scandal?

The wedding registry snafu is the tamest scandal to come from the Golden Bachelor. While Gerry Turner gave the appearance of a wholesome, understanding Bachelor, an explosive investigation by The Hollywood Reporter suggested otherwise.

The outlet spoke to Gerry’s ex, who claimed to have dated the widower for over two years. Gerry said on the show that he hadn’t dated anyone long-term since his wife passed away.

THR also discovered that Gerry Turner wasn’t completely honest about his retirement or career in the restaurant industry. The Golden Bachelor claimed that he retired in his 50s.

However, documents proved that he continued to work after his supposed retirement.

Gerry created another minor scandal with his treatment of Leslie Fhima during the season finale. According to Leslie, Gerry led her to believe she was his final pick, only for him to turn around and dump her. He ended up proposing to Theresa Nist.

If the ratings are any indication, it seems that some Bachelor Nation fans were turned off by the revelations about Gerry.

The Nov. 30 season finale had over 6 million viewers. But Variety reports that the Golden Wedding that aired on January 4 only pulled in 5.2 million viewers.

That’s still good news for the franchise, but Gerry Turner’s past may have hurt the ratings.

Will fans tune in for a new season of The Bachelor? Joey Graziadei’s season kicks off on Monday, January 22.
