Rejected ‘Golden Bachelor’ Women Forced To Attend Wedding?
Did the rejected Golden Bachelor contestants attend Gerry and Theresa’s wedding on their own, or did the network force them? That’s one question that has Bachelor Nation fans stumped. Keep reading for all the details.
Golden Bachelor Contestants Attend Gerry & Theresa’s Wedding
Gerry Turner had twenty-two women eager to be his wife, but he could only choose one. Theresa Nist received his final Golden Rose and a marriage proposal.
Their Golden Wedding special aired just a few weeks later. The star-studded event had over 100 guests, many from Bachelor Nation. But the guest list wasn’t just Golden Bachelor contestants. The first-ever Bachelorette, Trista Sutter, attended with her husband Ryan. Ben Higgins attended the wedding solo, leaving his wife of two years home.
A few Golden Bachelor alums were given special duties at the nuptials. Susan Noles officiated the ceremony while Kathy Swarts channeled her inner Joan Rivers as the red carpet correspondent.
Did Their Contracts With ABC Force Them?
Theresa Nist told Us Weekly just days before her wedding that she didn’t have full control over the guest list. If she did, she would have invited all of the women from her season, including Leslie Fhima.
The Golden Bachelor runner-up did end up attending the ceremony, which is one reason why fans are wondering if the network strong-armed her into it.
A Bachelor Nation fan took to Reddit to try to find the answer. Did the contestants’ contracts with ABC mean they had to attend the wedding?
“How could this be true,” the OP asked. “All of the women on the show were not at the wedding,” they added, including a list of at least eight former contestants who weren’t there.
Bachelor Nation fans agreed in the comments that the contestants weren’t forced to attend.
- Leslie said on the podcast that nobody made her go to the wedding. She wanted to be there because she is friends with Theresa.
- I think they invited the ones who were friends, and people went because they wanted to go. They got to dress up and be on television again.
Fight Nearly Breaks Out
In fact, several of the Golden Bachelor alums looked beyond thrilled to be at the Golden Wedding. One fan shared a clip on Twitter of several of the women fighting over who would catch Theresa’s bouquet.
A truly chaotic bouquet toss with pushing, a near nip slip and flowers torn to absolute shreds, I want a Golden Bachelor in Paradise season so bad #TheGoldenBachelor #GoldenWedding pic.twitter.com/FGcoCfdVF9

Joan Vassos caught part of the bouquet. Could that be a sign that she’s the first Golden Bachelorette?
We’ll have to wait for ABC to confirm the spinoff.
