It was toward the end of 2021 when Kody Brown’s plural family began to break down. November 2021 was when Christine Brown stated that after 26 years of marriage, she was leaving Kody. A year later, Janelle Brown also decided to walk away from her marriage with Kody. Within two months, Meri Brown confirmed her relationship with Kody was also over.

So, within two years, Kody lost three of his four wives. He went from being the head of a polygamist family to being in a monogamous relationship with Robyn Brown.

Speaking to People Magazine, Kody Brown admits that he loved the life he had with Robyn, Meri, Christine, and Janelle. Sadly, he was fielding so many complaints from his wives and his children that it drove him to the ground.

Kody explained the one thing he didn’t want was to work himself to death trying to keep this family together. To avoid doing that, he had to be willing to let go of his wives who didn’t want to be with him anymore.

“[It] felt like everybody else was unhappy because I felt like I was lodging all the complaints, that it just made me cynical. I loved [our situation]. It just seemed like not everybody else did.”

Sadly, Kody believed he was the only one who really wanted his plural family to work.

It Came To A Tragic End

Kody Brown continued to tell People Magazine he believed his plural family crumbling was tragic. He proceeded to liken it to a tragic love story by the great William Shakespeare.

I didn’t want to be the guy that has this family that I struggle with until I’m dead. Then they all get along just great after I’m gone. I don’t understand why we can’t transcend this now. It broke my heart that we couldn’t transcend our differences. It’s part of life. I loved the life we have, and I hope I love the life that I’ll get

Kody proceeded to liken the fall of his family to “a Shakespearean love story that’s a tragedy.”

Kody Brown felt as though his heart was still trying to heal from his family falling apart. He, however, was slowly finding his spark and optimism once again.

Toward the end of his interview with People Magazine, Kody said that he wished everyone in his family could find a way to move on. He hopes to let go of the past and find a way to love each other enough to let everyone move on and be happy. Moreover, he hoped he could find a way to love his new life as much as his old one.
