In addition to being a former contestant in the franchise, Wells Adams has a front-row seat to the drama. After failing to find love with JoJo Fletcher on Season 12 of The Bachelorette, Wells tried again on Season 3 of Bachelor In Paradise.
His connection with Ashley Iaconetti didn’t make it off the beach, and he’s now happily married to Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland. However, Wells remains a very active member of Bachelor Nation, serving as bartender and amateur therapist on BIP since Season 4.
Long story short, Wells Adams has seen some things. He recently spoke to Us Weekly for a joint interview with BIP Season 7 contestant Joe Amabile.
While discussing Gerry Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor, Wells dropped a huge compliment to one of the leads from the franchise.
“I don’t know who you guys consider [to] be the best Bachelor that we ever had, but I always say it was Ben Higgins,” Wells Adams said.
Ben Higgins was the lead for Season 20 of The Bachelor. He famously said “I love you” to both JoJo Fletcher and Lauren Bushnell before ultimately proposing to Bushnell.
Gerry Turner made the same mistake on his season and got roasted for it. But Joe Amabile and Wells Adams don’t fault him for it, and here’s why.

It’s an unspoken rule in Bachelor Nation not to profess your love for any of the contestants before handing out the final rose. Ben Higgins, Gerry Turner, and other recent leads have disregarded that rule.
While Ben Higgins spoke of his affections for two women, Gerry Turner took it to the next level and said he loved all three of his final contestants: Faith Martin, Theresa Nist, and Leslie Fhima.
But Wells Adams doesn’t think it was wrong. He explained, “He came at it very authentically. And then I think that he did probably feel very strongly for three women and so I can kind of give someone some grace if I think that they really felt that way.”
Joe Amabile agreed. “He is a little older so we give him a little leniency,” he said about Gerry Turner. He added, “He’s 70-something-years-old so whatever, you’ve got to take your shots.”
Do They Consider Gerry Turner An F Boy?
A bombshell report came out before the Golden Bachelor finale in which an ex of Gerry Turner alleged that he lied about his romantic history on the show. The widower made it seem as though he had been single since his wife’s death, but his ex claimed she dated him for over two years.

It made some fans wonder about Gerry Turner’s character, but Joe Amabile and Wells Adams have no doubt about his integrity.
“Now if I think he was being, like, an F boy and, you know, just trying to get peoples’ pants then I would be like, ‘Gross,’” Wells said about the 72-year-old retiree.
“It’s hard to picture Gerry as an F boy,” Joe Amabile agreed.
