Tammy & Amy Slaton Reveals Turning To Food Over Sad Death
Amy Slaton Halterman and her sister, Tammy Slaton from 1000-Lb Sisters opened up recently about why they turned to food for comfort. Mostly, it was triggered by sadness. Actually, TLC fans feared that Tammy might slide back into overeating after her husband, Caleb Willingham passed away. However, she managed to resist her food addiction.
Tammy & Amy Slaton Struggled With Their Weight As Kids
Tammy did a fantastic job losing weight, something fans feared would never happen. Even her sister thought that her eating would kill her. And, she managed to seriously damage her health before she shed half her body weight. Meanwhile, before she married Michael Halterman the younger sister also battled but managed to at least lose more weight initially, than Tammy.
The problems went back to their childhood, which doesn’t sound very happy. Tammy and Amy Slaton had a rough time. Poor, their mom held down several jobs at once. So, they didn’t eat very well. Added to that, they seemed close to their grandmother who passed away and devastated the two girls. Eating became one enjoyable activity for them, but a lot of it was cheap and affordable takeout. Sadly, her weight gain almost saw Tammy take her own life.

Unhappy And Sad It Was Too Easy To Just Eat
When the two women finally started filming for 1000-Lb Sisters, they had tried to shed some weight, but it stubbornly stuck to them. So, it seems that the TLC show threw them a lifeline. These days, the two sisters who both lost a dramatic amount of weight spoke with People about how they try and use their stories to help others in the same position.
In her interview, Tammy talked about how easy access to poor nutrition made them unhealthy.
The microwave was our best friend. Ramen noodles, bowls of soup, things that were quick and easy stuff that adds on carbs…By putting our stories out there, we’re helping others see they can lose weight too. They’re not alone. I’ve done more in the last nine months than I’ve ever done in my life. I have my life back.
Amy Slaton Halterman Explained Their Sadness
Tammy and Amy Slaton lost their grandmother and that made them deeply sad. So, they ate a lot. That only made them feel sadder because they ended up body shamed and bullied, Amy noted.
We got the bullies, we got the fat comments, we got all that.
Naturally, because the 1000-Lb Sisters show reveals the pain that Amy went through when she and Michal Halterman split, TLC fans feared she might gain weight again. Fortunately, she met a man named Tony Rodgers, and she’s head-over-heels with love and happiness at the moment.
