‘My 600-lb Life’: Season 7 Where Is Mercedes Cephas Today?
My 600-lb Life Season 7 featured the story of Mercedes Cephas. She appeared in the show at 773 pounds and was struggling with mobility. The Ohio native had to rely on her family, especially her kids. Her weight gain began when she was a child. She claimed that she was sexually assaulted by her father, and used food to cope with the trauma. Mercedes became bedridden for many years. Fortunately, she found the determination to turn her life around. But it seems she wasn’t expecting the steps she must take. Keep reading to see what she’s up to today.
My 600-lb Life: Mercedes Cephas’ Weight Loss Journey
Mercedes had a rough journey with Dr. Now. Despite being told that her obesity can lead to problems in her internal organs, she still couldn’t complete the requirements needed to get bariatric surgery. Instead, the My 600-lb Life alum kept on complaining about the strict regimes she had to follow. She only lost 81 pounds throughout her episode. Her last reported weight was 692 lbs. Her FB page also indicates that she has moved back to Cincinnati, Ohio, after relocating closer to Dr. Now in Texas.
Did Mercedes Lose Weight After The Show?
Many fans were left curious when Mercedes Cephas’ episode ended. She didn’t show signs of pursuing her physical goals after the show. However, the former My 600-lb Life star previously launched a fundraiser to help get her weight loss surgery. She also explained on her page that she suffered infections from her past two C-sections and that her wounds needed to be closed through a wound vac machine, which left her unable to move around for quite a while.
Unfortunately, the page was shut down after only receiving $175 from her goal of $10,000. Some fans are also worried that her condition may have gotten worse. She’s tried to find excuses and continued eating unhealthy foods during her time with Dr. Now, and it seems that the bariatric surgeon was not successful in changing her discipline.
My 600-lb Life: Mercedes Cephas’ Last Online Appearance
Mercedes has been inactive on social media for years. Her last online appearance was in November 2019, when she changed her FB profile photo. It also appears that she still hasn’t made significant progress based on her last picture.
Mercedes Cephas was also suffering from severe lymphedema when she met Dr. Now, making her condition more challenging. At this point, fans can only hope that she will soon resurface to give an update about her journey.
Season 12 will premiere in March 2024. TLC also revealed that Where Are They Now? episodes will be released in April 2024. If you are looking for more My 600-lb Life news, come back to TV Shows Ace for all your updates.
